Self Development


The Self Development Programs are designed to help individuals to become self responsible, self-empowered, and self-reliant by overcoming barriers that lead to poverty, unemployment, and hopelessness. Under the Self Development Programs, individuals may get educational, and employment help through the various programs offered.  G.E.D. Tutorials

Creative Visions is not a G.E. D. site, but provides an opportunity for individuals studying for their G.E.D to use Creative Visions’ computer lab and educational resources to help in studying for the G.E. D. test. Tutors are available on a limited basis and by appointment only.

Outside the Box High School Graduation Initiative

Provides academic and non academic support to address academic achievement, increase the graduation rate, and serves as an alternative placement for students suspended from school to allow the suspended student to stay current on class work.  The academic component is supported by Education 2020 a self paced- online learning system used by the Des Moines Public Schools and many other Iowa school districts. Outside the Box also provides non academic component focused on self development.  Students may register to participate in the program by calling Creative Visions. (515) 244-4003. The Outside the Box is funded in part with funding from the United Way of Central Iowa.

Job Readiness

Creative Visions Job Readiness Program is a Virtual Access Point affiliate in partnership with Iowa’s Workforce Development and the U.S. Department of Labor. In addition to providing computer access to look for employment, and assistance in developing a website, the program also develops employability skills. The Job Readiness program recently developed a Job Club to provide networking and support for job seekers and those seeking to upgrade their employment.

 The ultimate goal of the Creative Visions Job Readiness program is to provide one-stop access to community members seeking help with employment who may not feel comfortable or have access to government agencies.  To learn more about Virtual Access, please contact Creative Visions at (515) 244-4003
